The MCPT cryogenic plastic grinder uses liquid nitrogen to cool material below its normal brittle point before and during size reduction. It is intended for heat-sensitive, elastic, tacky or low-softening-point polymers that are difficult to grind cleanly at room temperature.
Typical candidates include selected engineering plastics, rubber, TPU, TPE, EVA, nylon and hot-melt adhesive. Suitability must be established from material testing and safety information; a material name alone is not enough to set the cooling temperature, nitrogen demand or final particle size.
Recorded System Range
| Item | Current record |
|---|---|
| Main motor | 5.5–55 kW |
| Maximum input size | up to 10 mm |
| Cooling medium | liquid nitrogen |
| Recorded cooling range | 0 to −196 °C |
| Blade diameter | 250–550 mm |
| Recorded fineness range | 10–500 mesh, material dependent |
| Recorded output range | 100–1200 kg/h, material dependent |
The wide ranges cover different machine sizes and materials and must not be treated as one standard configuration. Achievable mesh, throughput and nitrogen consumption depend on the brittleness point, feed temperature, moisture, classifier setting and recycle ratio.
Process and Safety Review
The system can include a feed bin, cryogenic conditioning stage, grinder, induced-draft fan, cyclone, classifier or vibrating screen and powder collector. Oversize particles may return for further grinding.
Liquid nitrogen creates cold-burn, pressure and oxygen-deficiency risks. Storage, ventilation, monitoring, piping and operating procedures must be reviewed for the installation country and site. Explosion or food/pharmaceutical suitability is not assumed from the use of nitrogen.
Information Required for Evaluation
- Exact material, grade and safety data
- Softening or glass-transition behaviour if known
- Feed dimensions, moisture and temperature
- Target mesh and acceptable particle distribution
- Required throughput and daily operating hours
- Nitrogen supply, ventilation, site temperature and voltage
Compare the MF Series room-temperature pulverizer when the material mills without smearing or heat damage. Review additional models in the pulverizer category.
Request a Cryogenic Grinding Assessment
Send material data, sample photos, feed size, target mesh, required capacity and site utilities through the AMIGE inquiry page. A controlled material test should confirm the temperature, grinding route and expected output before quotation.
