The PP/HDPE rigid plastic washing line is designed for post-consumer bottles, drums, crates, pipe offcuts, sheets and other rigid polyolefin scrap. A typical system combines size reduction, intensive washing, density separation, mechanical dewatering and thermal drying before the flakes enter sorting, compounding or pelletizing.
The line must be configured around the actual feed. Milk bottles, chemical drums, injection-moulded rejects and mixed household rigid plastics have different labels, residues, wall thicknesses and separation requirements.
Typical Process Route
- Manual or automatic sorting and metal removal
- Conveyor feeding and wet crushing
- Friction washing to remove dirt, labels and surface residue
- Sink-float separation for polyolefin recovery and heavy-contaminant removal
- Rinsing, screw conveying and mechanical dewatering
- Hot-air drying, fines separation and flake collection when required
Hazardous or chemical containers require confirmation of their previous contents, draining, cleaning and site-safety procedure before equipment selection.
Reference Line Configurations
| Input capacity | Reference workshop | Reference labour | Installed power | Recorded water demand |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 500 kg/h | 35 × 10 × 6 m | 4 people | 100 kW | 2 t/h |
| 1000 kg/h | 45 × 10 × 6 m | 6 people | 160 kW | 3 t/h |
| 2000 kg/h | 55 × 15 × 6 m | 8 people | 200 kW | 4 t/h |
These figures are reference data from the current product record. Actual output, power, water circulation, labour and floor space depend on feed cleanliness, bottle or part geometry, target flake size, automation level, wastewater treatment and drying target.
Information Required for Line Design
- Polymer mix and clear photos of representative material
- Loose, baled or pre-crushed feed condition
- Maximum piece dimensions, wall thickness and hourly input
- Labels, sand, oil, metal and other contamination
- Required flake size, cleanliness, moisture and downstream process
- Available workshop dimensions, water system, voltage and operating hours
Compare the PE/PP film washing line when the feed is mainly flexible packaging, or review the friction washer and sink-float modules for an existing-line upgrade. More systems are listed in the plastic recycling line category.
